Gamma Updates! (Software & Batch 3)
Two blog posts in one month?!

Gamma Software 2.0 🧗
We were going to make this an email update, but figured it warranted a full blog post to go over the projected release date, new features, and hype behind Gamma Software 2.0!
What is it?
"Gamma Software 2.0" is the marketing name for a software update for the Gamma Mini Synth.
It's a huge update to Gamma's firmware that adds a TON of new features everybody has been begging for!
What are the features?
Let's go over the major new features that Gamma Software 2.0 will release with:
- Looper. Possibly the most requested feature from the community! The looper UI will be easily accessible by clicking and holding the key selection encoder. Record your melodies and chord progressions for up to 32 bars and manipulate them in real time with the thumbsticks and knobs. Read more about it here.
- MIDI 2.0, MIDI In, MIDI Thru. Another highly requested set of features! Gamma's firmware up to this point has only supported MIDI 1.0 (Out), so this is a huge upgrade. Choose the MIDI protocol (1.0 or 2.0), customize a range of MIDI parameters for both In and Out, and even enable MIDI Thru to easily put Gamma in a chain of devices. Plus there's even more in-depth MIDI related features we haven't mentioned (mono/poly modes, thumbstick bending, MIDI clock, etc...). Read more about it here.
-
New scales. As promised, we've added new scales! You can now choose from 13 scale types (Major, Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian, Pentatonic Major, Pentatonic Minor, Blues, WholeTon) and easily access them from Gamma's launch screen with the key selection encoder (turn clockwise to change the root, turn counter clockwise to change the scale type). Read more about it here.
- Poly Layout Mode. In addition to the existing ability to swap the notes/chords from the menu, you can now enable "Poly" mode. Poly mode turns both the left and right sides of the device into notes that can be played simultaneously (up to 4 at a time). This lets you create your own chords - you're no longer limited to the ones predefined in the scale! Read more about it here.
- Boot Animations & Audio Visualizers. Gamma is going to have even more personality?? You'll have the ability to choose from 5 boot animations on start-up (random by default), in addition to 2 new audio visualizers for when you're playing (Ripple and Waveform). Read more about it here.
- Revamped Menu System. The menu system has gotten a refresh! Everything is vertically scrollable now, with more room for information on each page. Did we mention you can also use the thumbsticks for navigation? 👀
- Experimental Settings. There's a new "secret" dev menu 🤫 This new menu features experimental effects and easter eggs. Read more about it here.
- More Settings Persist. We've added a bunch of new settings to the flash storage of the device. No more having to mute the speaker every time you power cycle 😅
...and this isn't even mentioning the various big fixes and quality of life improvements Gamma Software 2.0 will have to offer 👽
That's awesome! When is it coming out??
Soon! We're about to start beta testing phase, allowing our beta testers to find any potential bugs prior to a larger rollout.
The expected public release date for Gamma Software 2.0 is mid-May.
That means all Batch 3 units will be shipping with Gamma Software 2.0 pre-loaded.
We'd like to add another huge shoutout to Tino Rusch for his hard work on Gamma Software 2.0. This wouldn't have been possible to release so soon if not for him. Go check out his VibeLang software!
Batch 3 Units 👷
We have an update for all Batch 3 customers!
Our planned start ship date for Batch 3 has been updated from the end of April to mid-May.
This is due to 2 reasons:
- A delay in receiving the aluminum chassis.
- For units to ship with Gamma Software 2.0.
We apologize for the delay, but hope the slew of new features your unit will ship with will be a fair consolation 🙂
When will my unit in particular ship?
Depending on when you ordered, your unit should ship between mid-late May. We'll do our best to have all units shipped before the start of June 🙏 Please remember that we are a small team that manufactures all of our products in house, so your patience is highly appreciated!
